The overseas ministry supports the development of innovation in overseas territories.
Aware that some overseas companies face particular challenges in terms of innovation: operating costs and access to knowledge more restrictive than in metropolitan France, local markets very much geared towards meeting local demand or lack of personnel qualified executives in research and development, the overseas ministry considers that support for innovation must be a priority for economic development.
The MOM is very involved in the financing of ecosystems and actors of innovation
Beyond tax support for research and development mechanisms, in particular the improvement of the research tax credit (CIR), the Ministry of Overseas Territories is very committed to the financing of ecosystems and actors of innovation through the actions of the future investment program (PIA). Since 2017, the PIA 3 has enabled the deployment of funds intended to finance innovation alongside the regions in several overseas territories. Currently, an overseas innovation plan of € 16 million was launched with the General Secretariat for Investment (SGPI) which will benefit overseas research and innovation players whose projects contain an environmental or social dimension with high added value for their territory.
"Logic of recovery and sustainable transformation of overseas territories"
The overseas ministry is therefore particularly attentive to the development of La French Tech. French Tech is much more than a device, it is a whole French movement, open to the world, at the service of the promotion and development of startups and innovative companies. This movement is also that of local actors, who can build their own territorial dynamic of innovation around common ambitions and values.
As Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of Overseas Territories, indicated on December 30, La French Tech Polynesia is also involved " in the logic of relaunching and sustainable transformation of overseas territories ”.
The action of La French Tech Polynesia in favor of an innovation adapted to island environments is in itself innovative.
For these reasons, the Minister of Overseas Territories wished to actively support the projects implemented by La FrenchTech Polynesia whose Tech4Islands “Awards” and “Summit” events benefit not only the ocean basin but also all innovative overseas companies. .
The action of La French Tech Polynesia in favor of innovation adapted to island environments is in itself innovative and should allow French innovations to spread throughout the world. It has the ambition to promote the regional integration of overseas territories and encourage French companies and startups to take their place internationally. The overseas ministry wishes La French Tech Polynesia every success.
